Urban Utilities needed an engaging, interactive course to educate employees on its Alcohol Awareness and Testing policy. The goal was to present the policy in a way that resonated with learners, reinforcing the importance of safe practices and empowering employees to understand both the “why” and “how” behind the policy. This required a modern, scenario-based approach to capture attention, encourage retention, and enhance comprehension.
The main challenge was making the policy accessible and relatable without feeling overly regulatory or dry. Alcohol awareness policies can sometimes seem impersonal, but for learners to fully absorb and adhere to the guidelines, the course needed to feel engaging, relevant, and approachable.
We chose Articulate Rise as the development platform for its responsive design, accessibility, and intuitive interface. By incorporating real-life scenarios, we transformed policy points into relatable situations that helped learners connect the policy to real-world experiences.
Each section of the course included interactive decision points, allowing learners to actively participate in the scenarios. We also integrated micro-learning checkpoints throughout, ensuring understanding and reinforcing key takeaways in a digestible way.
